Kaithal: The Modi wave had hit him much before it swept the country. It was in 2012 that he came out with a song praising PM-designate
Narendra Modi. It won Kaithal-based Rocky Mittal 1 lakh hits on
YouTube and a chance to meet the man who is all set to become the Indian Prime Minister today evening.
On the eve of Modi's swearing-in, Rocky organised a mega luncheon for nearly 25,000 people to celebrate his prediction of NaMo becoming Indian PM coming true.
The young artiste, who sings and writes his songs, recalls his first meeting with Modi. "Referring to the content of the song, his first question to me was: 'How can you say that I'll be the next Prime Minister as there is no talk about it so far.' All I could say was that my heart tells me so," he said.
Rocky claims that Modi remembers him on every occasion and that he has been to many of his rallies to sing to the crowds. On some occasions, his lyrics have left Modi moist eyed, he says.
"Before the results of elections were announced, I had a personal communication with Modi ji. But after that I have been in touch with him only through his personal staff. They asked me to join the oath-taking ceremony, but I thought I would not be able to meet him in person. Nevetherless, it is a big occasion and I decided to host a lunch party on the eve," said Rocky, who belongs to a business family, but is passionate about music.
Rocky's first song got him huge response on YouTube, but he was mocked by those around him. "People laughed. They said there was no sign of Modi's nomination for the post. They said I made no sense. Today, all of them have been proved wrong," he smiled.
One for Modi It was on September 17, 2012-Narendra Modi's birthday-that Rocky Mittal uploaded his first song. A week later, Modi invited him to meet him through a BJP leader from Haryana. Rocky met Modi at his official residence in Gandhinagar. Next, Modi embraced Rocky at the Talkatora Stadium in New Delhi in 2013 when he saw him distributing CDs containing Modi songs. Rocky has since been invited to various Modi rallies, including one in Varanasi where he sang for an hour and a half.
